A used potato sorting machine
Using a refurbished potato sorting machine is the ideal solution for companies within the food processing industry that do not want to pay the price of a brand new model, but still want a suitable solution. The sorting of potatoes, an important process in the processing of potatoes to beautiful end products, can also be done by an already used potato sorting machine. Sometimes we buy used machines (from Marcelissen) from our customers, for example when they want to replace them with a new model from our range.
Advantages of a used potato grading machine
There are several advantages that make buying an occassion interesting. Machines nowadays are of higher and higher quality, so that a used machine can function well with a new owner. There are, of course, other advantages, such as:
- Attractive purchase price
- Short delivery time
- Lower depreciation costs
In addition, Marcelissen has excellent service and maintenance, which means that any problems with a used potato sorting machine, can often be solved. We have been active in the AGF sector for 70 years now, which has given us a great deal of knowledge and experience.
Thanks to this knowledge and experience, we know when a used, second-hand machine may still be of interest to a new owner.
Second-hand optical sorter
An Optical Sorter is an excellent option to use as a potato grading machine when processing potatoes. Sorting can be done, for example, according to size, shape and colour. Potatoes are transported with the Optical Sorter on two separate rolls, after which they are scanned according to predefined characteristics such as quality characteristics or certain characteristics that are important for the producer. The already scanned potatoes are then either ‘blown away’ by means of blowing nozzles, or gently pushed out by a glider, to the right exit so that the actual sorting takes place.

An Optical Sorter is a very effective machine to use for the targeted sorting of potatoes. Therefore, it is an excellent option to use for your sorting process. Watch a demonstration of the Optical Sorter below, which will give you an idea of how the machine works in practice.

A used Sliver Remover
When potatoes (or other tuber vegetables) are cut, small pieces may be formed which end up between the cut product, which should not become part of the end product. A (used) Sliver Remover is the ideal solution to counter this recognizable problem.

The roll opening can easily be adjusted during the production process, allowing for targeted sorting according to the size of the waste residue. There are variations from 3 mm to 23 mm or 4 mm to 24 mm. The small pieces of potato or peel can be discharged underneath the machine. Of course, there is a chance that these scraps will stick to the products. However, a spray tube has been mounted above the rollers to remove unwanted leftovers using water. There are different sizes of Sliver Removers available, but keep in mind that our range of second-hand machines varies constantly and not every type might be available.
The capacity of this machine goes up to a max. 20.000 kg/hour.
Below you can see how the Sliver Remover (used) works.
