About our history

In 1949, the roots of what is now Marcelissen were planted by Mr. Frans Marcelissen, originally focused on crafting parasol bases under the name Parvo BV. By the swinging 60s, Marcelissen shifted gears, diving into potato processing machinery, anticipating the rising tide of potato products like fries and chips.

Their breakthrough came in 1968 with the delivery of the first continuous fryer to Frites Specialist in Lomm, setting the stage for Marcelissen's expansion into complete lines for fresh potato processing by 1974. However, adversity struck in 1985 when Mr. Marcelissen was sidelined by a heart attack, leading to a change in leadership in 1990, with Guus Treuen, former Head of Engineering, taking the helm.

The 90s marked Marcelissen's global ascent, with their first foray into African markets in 1992, followed by strategic acquisitions and expansions, including the integration of Slitmaster BV in 1997, diversifying into kitchen and cafeteria equipment. As the new millennium dawned, Marcelissen's growth fueled their expansion in the industry.

Fast forward to the 21st century, Marcelissen embraced the digital revolution with their pioneering developments in camera-based sorting, marking their entry into Industry 4.0 in 2011, swiftly followed by international installations, from Germany to India.

Today, Marcelissen's reach spans over 100 countries, a testament to decades of  innovation and resilience. With Sjoerd and Jos at the helm since 2020, Marcelissen continues to thrive. And with their recent acquisition in 2023 new doors open on their illustrious journey.
