Food processing machinery
In order to get the best food quality possible, it’s essential that food processing machinery has the production standard capable of delivering this high quality. However, not every machine is capable of doing this. At Marcelissen, we can assure you that our food processing machinery is top of the line and that they can produce the best end products from potatoes, carrots, beets and other root vegetables.

Furthermore, we push ourselves to improve on waste management and reduction in food wastage whenever possible. Our vast amount of knowledge and experience comes from the fact that we have been active in the food processing industry for over 70 years. A personal approach and excellent service are some of the key characteristics of Marcelissen.
Our clients
We have a lot of machines and production lines that are being used by well-known food processing companies. Think of businesses like Farm Frites and Del Monte. Nevertheless, farmers and medium sized processors are still our main customer base, delivering tailor made solutions to enable them to add value to their own products
We will give you details on some of our most popular food processing machines. Don’t hesitate to contact us when you have further questions regarding these machines.
Sliver Remover (new generation) – SR2
Figure 1: Sliver remover – SR2
The Sliver Remover is designed for sorting out small slivers (of potatoes for example) that are no longer needed during production. The rollers that sort out the slivers are adjustable during the process. In order to get a good sorting result, all of the rollers have the same rotation direction and are provided with a so called ‘swing ring’. Both features contribute to a good movement and nice overall spreading of the potatoes. Other advantages include:
- Adjustable sorting sizes (during production)
- Easy to clean
- Minimum of wearable parts
- Highest quality, accuracy and capacity.
In order to prevent damage, the products are carefully transported over the rollers to the output. The Sliver Remover is useful after the products have been cut by our Easycut 1, Slitmaster SLL or Hydro Cutter SH.
Drum Knife Peeler – SMT
Figure 2: Drum Knife Peeler – SMT
The Drum Knife Peeler might be your best solution to peeling root crops like potatoes and carrots. The machine consists of a frame, a stable knife drum and an auger. It functions rather simple: the potatoes or carrots are transported through the knife drum by the auger. It is optional to use water during the peeling process. The beams that contain the knives are easily removed or replaced, which makes it easy to clean and maintain. The capacity is up to 6.000 kg/per hour
Drum Roller Peeler – SKR
Figure 3: Drum Roller Peeler – SKR
Similar tot the SMT, The Drum Roller Peeler is another food processing machine that removes the skin of a product by ways of peeling. Because of it’s construction, the machine runs at a low speed which ensures that the skin is peeled off both carefully and thoroughly. This leads to a high-quality end product that will surely meet your standards. However, a constant product supply is needed to get a high-quality end product. The production process works with of without water. The machine consists of an auger, drum and rollers. It has a capacity of up to 6.000kg/per hour.
Optical Sorter – SO(M)
Figure 4: Optical Sorter – SO(M)
Marcelissen has several options to sorting products like potatoes and beets. One of our most popular sorting machines, is the Optical Sorter – SO(M). This processing machine sorts the products in a number of ways, like size, colour, number of defects and size of the defects.
The machines works as follows:
- Products are transported to the sorting room via rolls.
- The products are then scanned, which indicates elements like the quality.
- The machine then sorts the products, via blow nozzles or sliders.
Capacity: max 108.000 potatoes on 2 lanes with 100% filling. Watch the video below and get our download for more details on this food processing machine.
Halving Machine – D
Figure 5: Halving Machine – D
Our Halving Machine – D is an excellent choice for cutting potatoes, beets and other products into 2 or 4 pieces. It can do so continuously and over multiple lanes.
An input belt makes sure there is a single layer of products on the roller bed. Thereafter, self-aligning rollers place the products correctly, before they reach the cutting section. The cutting unit is driven by a PLC and cuts the products in the predefined way. All potatoes, beets or other root products are collected beneath the belt.

Waste press auger – WS
Figure 6: Waste press auger – WS
The waste press auger is an excellent option to deal with waste during the production process. Waste is collected via a horizontal screw conveyor that transports it in a closed mesh drum. This mesh drum ends in a cone that is sealed by a hatch. This hatch exerts counter-pressure by means of a counterweight. This way, the transport screw presses the water out of the waste.
The pressed out water is discharged underneath the machine and the dry waste comes out of the cone at the front of the machine. This waste can be collected in a container.
Auger Destoner – VOS
Figure 7: Auger Destoner – VOS
The Auger Destoner – VOS consists of a water tank and vertical auger. In the tank, sand is separated from root crops (like potatoes) and stones. The potatoes and stones are transferred by the water, while sand falls down through the perforated bottom. The potatoes are finally separated from the stones in the auger.
Food processing lines
Next to stand-alone food processing machines, we also develop processing lines for potatoes, French fries, carrots and baby carrots. The production lines comprise of individual machines linked together in a way that ensures a high-quality product. It is also important that it suits your specific needs. That is why our processing lines are always tailormade.
