Baby carrot line

Baby carrot line by Marcelissen

Figure 1: Baby carrot line

As worldwide market leader Marcelissen has a lot of experience in the field of food processing machines for potatoes, beets, carrots and other root vergetables. We are pleased to share our experience and knowledge with you. Together we can develop an optimal carrot processing line based on your personal wishes. Read below how we do it.

The well-known ‘baby carrots’, also known as snacking carrots, are processed similar compared to potatoes and regular carrots and thus have a similar process line like. However, at Marcelissen we are convinced it is important to tailor production lines to individual wishes and needs of our customers.

By offering consultation, we determine best fitted machines and links for your baby carrot line. To do so, we select from a wide range of food processing machines.

Just like other production lines, the baby carrot line has some machine elements that are essential for guaranteeing a well-functioning process. Crucial machines to the baby carrot line are explained below.

Easycut 1

The first link of the baby carrot line is the Easycut 1. This machine with a top and tail cutting system is ideal for cutting elongated products. It contains a standard of two cutting knifes and two conveyor belts.

Easycut 1

Figure 2: Easycut 1

The Easycut 1 allows the baby carrots to pass by on the conveyor belt one by one. Simultaneously,  the top and tail are cut off. There is also an option to slice the carrots into smaller pieces. The input of the baby carrots can be performed either manually or mechanical.

The capacity lays at 3.000kg per hour.

Watch the video below to see how the Easycut 1 operates.

Drum Roller Peeler – SKR

The Drum Roller Peeler – SKR consists of carborundum rolls aligning as drum. Moreover, it is designed in a way that both drum and rolls rotate.

Figure 3: Drum Roller Peeler – SKR

The main character of the Drum Roller Peeler is that it processes its input slowly which allows for all baby carrots to be peeled equally. The frequency regulator allows to adjust the rotation of the rolls and drum per minute. In addition the Auger can be managed.

Watch the video below for a demonstration of the Drum Roll Peeler. In this video fries are sorted instead of carrots. The functioning for carrots is the same.

Technical details like capacity, product infeed and measurements can be found in the table blow.

After the baby carrots are cut and peeled, it is important to portion them. To do so, the Nubbin Grader is the perfect match. By conveying the baby carrots over the moving deck undersized carrots fall through little holes onto the lower deck.

    Cooling Auger – NKS

    Cooling Auger – NKS

Figure 5: Cooling Auger – NKS

Usually, the last links of the baby carrot line is the Cooling Auger – NKS. Like the name suggests, this machine constitutes to be the cooling system of the food processing line. It consists of a tank with a horizontal Auger and is filled with cold water. Just like any other machine designed by Marcelissen, the Cooling Auger is equipped with a regulator to adjust the speed of different components.

    Marcelissen’s Roadmap

The previously described machines form important links of a carrot line. Naturally, more machines can be added to guarantee even better outcomes. The most important objective is that you are satisfied. That is why we discuss your specific wishes and demands. This way we can develop your ideal baby-carrot line. To do so, we will go through the following steps:

    1. Crystallize wishes & demands of the client (draft)
    2. In cooperation with our engineering department we determine our clients optimal solution. After confering with the customer we continue with step three.
    3. Production
    4. Testing phase
    5. Installation of carrot line at client’s facility
    6. Start-up of the carrot line
    7. Evaluation and possibly feedback
    8. Service and maintenance
