Industrial potato washer
A potato washer is one of the first machines needed when processing potatoes. In order to realize the best possible end-product, washing the potatoes effectively is the first step in achieving this. The washing process can also include destoning and desoiling. It’s of great importance to use an effective potato washer machine for a number of reasons, like:
- Minimization of wastage of food
- High-quality end product
- Minimization of wastage of organic substances and nutrients
We will discuss a few examples of our potato washing equipment that might be interesting for you, as well as destoners and desoilers, because they play an important role in the cleaning process.
Drum Potato Washer – VW
Figure 1: Washing Drum – VW
If you are looking for a potato cleaner machine that requires low maintenance, than the Washing Drum – VW is probably your best option. This machine is driven by a V-belt and by lowering or raising the outfeed chute, the level of product filling can be adjusted. It is therefore possible to process a high amount of potatoes in this potato washer. Because of this, the products will rub against each other and clean itself.
In order to assure the cleanest potatoes, this potato washing machine contains a spraying pipe. The spraying pipe covers the entire length of the drum, to make sure that all potatoes are washed properly. All waste, as well as the water used for cleaning, is discharged at the bottom of the machine. See the video below for a demonstration (in this video, you see carrots instead of potatoes).
The machine is best suited for industrial purposes and is therefore an interesting option to consider for food processing companies. For all technical details, download the datasheet below. Keep in mind that the first two columns focus on washers for root products like potatoes and beets, while the last two columns focus on elongated vegetables like carrots. Drumwasher and destoner – VOW
Figure 2: Drum Washer and destoner – VOW, potato washing machine
The VOW is an industrial potato washer that both functions as a drum washer, as well as a destoner. As you would expect, the destoning process starts first. This is achieved by using a vertical water stream that takes the potatoes into a drum. From there, the stones will be collected in a water tank (under a flume) before they are discharged by use of the outfeed belt.
The destoned potatoes finally come into the washing drum, where they will be washed thoroughly. This is achieved because the products are tumbling and rubbing against each other. Additionally, water is added in order to achieve the best result. An abundance of washing water will be discharged by an overflow. Watch the video below for an idea of how this potato washing equipment works:
The capacity of the drum washer and destoner – VOW consists of a maximum of 12.000 kg/hr. Click the download button below for all specifications on this machine.
Roller Desoiler – VR
Figure 3: Roller Desoiler – VR
Next to potato washing and destoning, another important part in cleaning potatoes, is desoiling them. The Roller Desoiler of Marcelissen does just that. It’s perfect for sorting out waste .
The machines consists of 7 stainless steel sleek rolls that can be adjusted. Adjustments can be made in order to de-sort a specific size or desoil in a particular way. It is possible to combine both. This results in both removing small products (or parts), as well as unwanted rubbish like soil and sand.
The capacity is up to 25.000 kg/hr. Watch the video below to get an idea of how the machine works.
Auger Destoner – VOS
Figure 4: Auger Destoner – VOS
It may be that you are only looking for an efficient destoner, instead of an industrial potato washer. If that is the case, then the Auger Destoner – VOS may be the right choice.
The Auger Destoner consists of two main pieces, a water tank and a vertical auger. The tank’s bottom is perforated, so the sand can easily fall down. Stones and potatoes are in turn transported through the water, to the auger. It is here where the potatoes are separated from the stones. The sand and stones are both removed by cleaning doors in the water tank.
The total capacity of the Auger Destoner is up to 12.000 kg/hr. The standard outfeed height is 2500 mm. Click the button below for an overview of all the technical specifications.
