Figure 2: Drum Roller Peeler – SKR
Unlike the SMT (which uses knives), the SKR is a drum roller peeler that uses abrasive (carborundum) rollers constructed in a drum to remove the skin from potatoes. The potatoes are being peeled carefully but thorough, since this industrial potato peeler machine moves at a low speed.
In order to obtain the best peeling result, a constant supply of potatoes and a proper dosing is needed. An auger transports the product to the discharge. When needed, the speed of the dives, rollers and auger can be changed by using frequency converters. Waste is discharged underneath the machine, together with the used water. However, peeling can also be done without the use of water. For a demonstration of this, please see the video below:
