With an industrial potato cutter you cut potatoes with the greatest ease. The days when potatoes were cut by hand are long gone in the B2B market. However, despite the fact that there are different solutions for this, companies are becoming increasingly demanding.
The combination of speed and efficiency is the biggest factor. We therefore have a variety of potato cutting machines, each with its own advantages, specifically designed for a designated market. We make this distinction in markets between catering (e.g. restaurants) and food processing companies. A couple of our potato cutting machines will be discussed in detail.

In the catering industry, an industrial potato cutter is an essential piece of kitchen equipment for restaurants serving high volumes of chips/French fries. One of the best possible options for the catering industry is the Slitmaster 85. This machine is made entirely of stainless steel and has all CE safety features. Potatoes can be cut into sticks as well as slices.
However, this machine is ideal for cutting chips in the optimal length with the least cutting loss. Watch the video below for a demonstration.
As can be seen in the video, the potatoes enter the rotor through the infeed chute. The rotor then takes the potatoes and pushes them through the disc knife. This disc is then cut into sticks by a knife roller set with rotating knives. Another option is to use a fixed knife to cut slices / discs. The use of fresh water is necessary so that the bearing bushes are lubricated and the starch is rinsed away. A knife roller set or knife block set is not included in the delivery of the machine and must be ordered separately.

In the kitchens of both ZOO Antwerpen and ZOO Planckendael, they had their manual way of cutting vegetables replaced with the Slitmaster 85. This machine is specifically designed for commercial kitchens and the catering industry to cut potatoes (and other vegetables) into slices. The rotor’s unique design ensures the longest possible ‘sticks’ are cut and minimal waste is created.
In May of 2022, we provided them with two Slitmaster slicers and accompanying custom-built undercarriages, which allows the machine to be easily relocated. Instead of spending 16 hours a day on cutting vegetables, the staff has reduced their hours to a mere 6. After two months of introducing these machines, the zoos have already made a return on their investment.

In addition to our electric potato slicer of the Slitmaster series, there is also one pneumatic potato cutter that might be interesting for you. This cutting machine is driven by a compressor and therefore does not use electricity.
The product can be inserted via the infeed at the top of the machine. If this input is closed by the safety door, the push arm will be activated which pushes the product through the blade section.
This potato cutter machine is very easy to operate, clean and maintain. You can make both sticks and wedges with this machine. The highest safety standards have been taken into account in designing manufacturing this machine. When closing the safety door there will be a lock which means that the machine is “locked” and can only be opened when the machine has returned to the safe position.
Because the machine only uses air, you avoid dangerous power connections in your production environment.

For food processing companies, other potato slicers may be more interesting, as this industry has more demand for different applications of potatoes. One of the solutions for food processing companies is the ‘halving machine – DC’.

With the Continuous Halving machine – DC you can divide potatoes in two on two or more lanes. In total, the machine consists of an infeed conveyor, roller conveyor and a cutting section.
The infeed conveyor ensures that the product is being positioned singled and in rows on the roller bed. The roller bed transports the potatoes towards the cutting section through these special rollers, which are driven by an underlying belt. The rollers have a unique profile that perfectly centres the potatoes before they reach the cutting section.
The cutting section is located at the end of the roller bed. Here the product is cut in two. Finally, there is a belt underneath the machine, on which the product is collected and can be inspected a second time if necessary.

With the Hydro Cutter – SH you can cut large capacities (up to 15,000 kg/hour) of potatoes into fries, wedges and slices. It is also possible to cut potatoes in halves or quarters (lengthwise) with our Hydro Cutter – SH. In total the machine consists of a water tank, pump, venturi, cutting section and decelerator.
The potatoes are first collected in the water tank. From here they are sucked up by means of a centrifugal pump and through the venturi and then the cutting section. After the potatoes have been cut into the desired shape, they are further transported via a decelerator and dewatering belt.
