Originally the Ciris® was designed for round products such as potatoes, but it has also proved to be highly suitable for detecting undesirable products among mussels as well as barnacles and other organisms growing on mussel shells. The product is fed into the Ciris® sorter in a continuous flow. The sorting machine singulates the mussels, checking and sorting each mussel individually.
The Ciris® is fitted with a CIP (Clean In Place) cleaning system, which keeps the camera glass clean during the production. The Ciris® sorting installation is equipped with a camera and is able to detect deviating colours and dimensional differences. The camera inspects the product by means of a “full surround” mirror set-up in visible light so that the product is seen on all sides, enabling an accurate detection of all defects.
The capacity for fresh mussels is about 1ton per hour, depending on the size of the product.
